Charmaine Olivia

I thought it was about time I shared another artist with you. Today I'm sharing with you an artist from America; Charmaine Olivia.

Charmaine is a "self-taught painter, tea addict & jewelry fiend living and loving in San Francisco." She does some really interesting artwork that I hope you will enjoy looking at. Below are some of her drawings and a couple of her paintings...

Below is the finished piece of the painting she is doing above (if that makes sense!)...

I hope you have enjoyed looking at a small selection of her work. If you would like to see more of Charmaine's work you can find her website here.

New (old) paintings!

When I first started my blog I decided that I would try to post at least once a week... well I think we can safely say that so far I've failed on doing that! Then I started to think that maybe, to start off with, I should post once a month with a view to post more often if I need to, so, from now on I WILL post more often, if I say it on here then I kinda have to follow through with it haha!

In my defense I have been busy painting and drawing away with the hope of sharing these new paintings with you later on in the year... so for now, I thought I would share these with you...

Above piece titled "Star Gazer"

Above piece untitled.

These are a couple of my earlier piece of work, I have taken photo's of them so I apologise for the poor quality. I was very pleased with them when I had first painted them, now when I look at them, all I see is how I can improve on them, I guess we all do that! So maybe in the future I may repaint them, it could be quite fun to compare old and new and see how my abilities and technique has changed and also my ideas on how to present the piece has evolved. So maybe watch this space...???

Kareena Zerefos

I just love her work, it's so inspiring. I picked some of my favourites to share with you...

She is a London based artist and designer born in Sydney. Kareena does these beautiful illustrations and paintings. Her "yearning to escape to a world of make believe, lead her to create whimsical illustrative work with a sense of isolation and bittersweet nostalgia." (quoted text taken from Kareena's biography)

I think my most favourite piece of hers has got to be the polar bear in the parachute. The piece is titled "the bear went over the mountain" and is a whopping 80 x 120cm! To give you a real idea as to how big it is Kareena has taken a photo of her (I'm guessing it's her) holding the finished piece, I've included this photo below...

Isn't her work so inspiring?

If you would like to check out more of her work, you can find her website here.

Love lets me fly...

Wow, where does the time go? There's so many things that I've wanted to have done by now; like keeping up to date with my blog for instance. As soon as I started my blog I wanted to take some photos of some of my work to share with you but never seemed to get around to it. Finally I've got a piece to share, I scanned it in to my computer in two bits as it's too big for my scanner so I had to put it together in photoshop so there's a bit of a line running through the middle that isn't on the original.

I do have more work but I don't think I'll be able to scan them in, they're larger then this piece so photo's may have to suffice next time.

Anyway the piece I'm sharing with you is below, it's called "Love lets me fly"

As you can imagine its better quality in real life, I think the quality isn't great on this as it only just fitted in my scanner so it wasn't sat right onto the glass which reduced the quality of it.

Some of the image on the right hand side has also been cut off some how. This is the first time I've pieced together an image which may explain it!

Next time I'll share with you some of my other pieces.

Hello and welcome!

After a lot of thinking and dithering about I finally decided that it was time for me to start a blog.

Please be patient with me as I'm new to this but I love reading blogs and apparently I love to talk (mainly about stuff my partner isn't really interested in) so I should hopefully get the hang of this pretty quickly.

I think the best way to start my blog is to properly introduce myself... I'm Hannah (the blog title may have been a bit of a giveaway there!) I live in the North East of England and I'm an artist and designer.

So that's all I have for you right now, I'm going to go find my camera and start taking some photos to share with you next time
